Sam's Clavical

These are pictures of what I have been up to the last few days. Now, I know some of you know all the fabulous things that my NIKON D50 can do but this is NOT one of them! :)

There's never a dull moment in our household and this past weekend was no exception. We were visiting a church in our area and the boys had gone to Sunday School. The teachers gave them a break to go outdoors and play for a bit and next thing I know I am sitting in the ER with Sam and his broken clavical.

What had happened was that our oldest son Jack tagged his brother, Sam then tripped which caused Jack to trip and then Jack's elbow went right into Sam's clavical at full speed. Nice, huh? I am really feeling that brotherly love right now. The first image is of Sam with his sling and his t-shirt (It says "I DO ALL MY OWN STUNTS") that I had gotten the night before this all happened.

Looks like I saw this one coming, huh?

Have a good one!

SIDENOTE....We got these images at the hospital. His clavical looks like a snapped pencil. It is totally sweet that I can see my sons bones in this XRAY. WAY COOL and I am so glad that I can share it!

Been there... Done that... Wish I was still young so that mine would have healed as fast as his will... :-)

-me
PS... I have the pictures of mine too, came with a cool program that let me change the shading too.

Please tell him that we hope he does heal quickly! That reminds me of the time that my older daughter's teeth met my son's head in the swimming pool - and havoc ensued!!

Yes, heal quickly, young man.

Our Benjamin has a shirt that says "I Do All My Own Stunts," too. Of course, he's only four. Here's hoping he makes it to your son's age before breaking anything. And beyond!

AH!

My uncle was telling me this story about how he broke his when he was a kid and you could see it poking out the skin!

a part and parcel of growing up, eh!!!! i don't remember one single year from our childhood when my little brother (well, he's not that little anymore)will not have some part of his body broken.....if it were not his casts for his broken bones, it would be stitches for splitting his knee while playing soccer and if nothing of those, he even managed to burn himself once.....phew!!!!

here's wishing Sam a quick recovery!!!! he looks so much at ease with the sling....way to go, boy!!!! :)

and did you not have s SONY???? :O

Whew Anna, that's quite an impression to make on the new church LOL...so sorry to hear about Sam's break. He seems to be taking it well. Its a great picture of him and his insides.
How's his brother taking the whole thing? Guilty, funny?
And now you have been introduced to your new ER too. What a way to learn about your neighborhood...

Ouch! Isn't it wonderful that those young bones heal so quickly and so well.

Hoping he will heal quickly! He sure does have a big smile on his face -- what a trooper!

I'm feeling so much empathy for you right now, Anna. These things tend to happen in clusters...and I hope we don't "cluster" our kids' accidents again anytime soon!

How cool that they released the images. I asked our doc if they would. Privacy rules in Canada dictate they can't. Weird.

May he have a fast, easy and pain-free recovery. Zach sends his best, too. Broken-bone-kids gotta stick together, after all.

Hugs and kisses to you Sam. I pray you heal quickly and keep that handsome smile of yours! Love, Gramma

Ahhhh!! I finally know someone who owns the Hoya X-ray filter! Perhaps I could borrow it sometime? I hear it works better than the Nik Software plug-in for Photoshop.

Yes, boys his age heal up amazingly quick. Someone my age with the same injury would be layed up for weeks! LOL!

Anna I'm sorry to see that Sam broke his bone but with that smile on his face I'd have to say he's a tough one and will recover quickly. He probably figures that he has a "cool" story to share with friends now.

Yikes! That looks so painful. The shirt... lol.. you must have known. :) He looks like a brave kid and think of the stories he will get to tell all his life.

Oh Anna, he has such a beautiful smile, praying for his full recovery. Sorry I haven't been around, things have been hectic at work. Happy Friday! xoxox

You find the best ways to keep busy. I bet that Church you were visiting has been real nice or very quiet to you.

Sam, heal quickly and enjoy the attention. I am glad I had girls!

Take care,

Mike

Wow. What a time you guys have had!

The shirt coincidence is eerie ;)

Ah, the ol' trip to the emergency room with a broken kid routine.

Know it well.

I'm sorry you both had to deal with that. And that is most definitely a broken collar bone!

The engineer in the next cubicle to mine had his crushed in a go-cart race (the kind of go-carts that do 65mph in the curves and 100 on the straights) and he had a photocopy of his after surgery collar bone on the outside of his cubicle. Like a badge of honor or something.

My prayers for a swift recovery are his.

Oh man, that makes me cringe just to look at it... Oh the joys of parenting, I guess -- but thank God that's something I've never had to go through... --Nor have I ever broken a bone -- what a horrible experience for everybody and especially your son... Hope he has a speedy recovery...

Always nice to bring your camera to a hospital, I did the same when my dog was at the vet, they were surprised of course,I hope Sam will get well soon so tat he can smile about this picture:)

I like the black and white shot, very well result of a portrait.

:)

How neat it would be if "X-ray" was a mode on cameras! I have not broken a bone in my life, these shots make me cringe, too :)

Kids seem to roll with the punches on these kinds of things; I don't know how they do it :)

Breaking bones is just a huge part of growing up, that's how I see it! Oh and don't worry about your advice being cliche, we both know it's true that life only gets better!

Have a splendid and SAFE week!
