Child's Play

Peek-A-Boo
June 2007
My iTunes: 40 Ft. by Franz Ferdinand
As if the story from my bus ride yesterday wasn't enough...I had met another friend on my journey. This time the friend was a lot shorter and very silly. Our bus had been stopped for quite a bit when it became clear that he was getting restless. An accident up the road had all but suspended service for the time being. Translation: we weren't going anyhwere.

His poor mother was starting to become overwhelmed with the reality that there was a bus load of passengers and her young son was having none of it. He was ready to run and play and no one was going to stop him. After a few rounds of peek-a-boo with me, it was clear he was done. I started taking pictures of shoes, hands, watches...basically anything I could think of that wouldn't invade the privacy of anyone. I would take the picture and then promptly show him my screen on the back of the camera for him to have a look. And it worked...he liked playing this game! No more screaming or arching his back trying to get away from his mother. Before they got off I asked if I could snap his photo and she agreed. He reminds me of my Sam with those wonderful curls around his face and his big brown eyes were as big as saucers...beautiful!

Hope you all are enjoying your weekend!

Those eyes are like limpid pools.....as always very tenderly captured by you. And did u notice, the little black kohl/kajal mark on his forehead? That's to ward off an evil eye ...I am sure u know about it...:) still, thought will leave a comment behind about the same ...:)

Those eyes....I'm sure you were a life saver to everyone on the bus by entertaining this little guy. I can't blame him, being captive on a bus wouldn't be my favorite thing to do either.

Those truly are beautiful eyes. Were his mother's eyes similar to his Anna?

Beautiful shot and story as usual.

What a beautiful child. Good for you for keeping him entertained with your camera. Who knows, you might have created a love of photography in this child.

I wish my Dad had used your "camera therapy" when I was this boy's age, but digital cameras weren't around then. But Dad's belt worked well too, as I recall.

You caught a great expression of this little boys - so much better than the usual "say cheese" expressions so many take of children.

That is a very stunning face. So lovely. Did you get his mom's information so you could send her the picture. I'm sure that would be weird to ask her for, but I'm equally sure she'd love to have it.

Another lovely photo. And his eyes are gorgeous! I am going to have to consider putting a little eyeliner on my boy sometime to see the effect. Incredible.

He's gorgeous. I often find myself playing with children, too. I remember taking 4 young ones everywhere, so now I try to help other moms. In the doctor's office, grocery stores, etc. I'm sure that his mother was thankful for your game!

...What a stunningly beautiful child!! His eyes are amazing, you can see so much depth there. Well done for entertaining him so well, I bet he'll rememeber that for a long time to come - as will his mother, I'm sure!

Cameras are magical devices that can entertain a child and turn an otherwise potential disaster into a memorable experience.

How cool that you were able to step in and make this moment happen.

And, of course, capture yet another incredible image.
