Smiling Eyes

Sadie Girl
August 2007

My iTunes: The Luckiest by Ben Folds

Hard to believe it has been another year. I spent the day celebrating my daughter Sadie. When did I become old enough to have a 14 year old? I am still trying to figure that part out. The fact of the matter is that I had her young so I have been growing up with her ever since. She has been such a blessing to her dad and me and continues to blossom right in front of our eyes. Everyday she is learning more and more everyday about the being the girl God intended her to be and what it means to have a heart like Jesus. What a joy it is to be on this journey with her. When she was a baby my grandfather nicknamed her "Smiling Eyes" so I titled my post accordingly.

Happy Birthday Sadie! I love you.

As soon as I saw the title I thought of my dad and how he glowed watching her with her "smiling eyes". May God continue to bless your and Sadie's relationship in the years to come. Happy Birthday, Sadie Katherine!

Wonderful picture. Such a sweet face.

Now, how do I get a four-year-old to sit for a portrait like this?!

Time flies by way too fast sometimes, Anna.

I like that nickname...

I believe you handed that same thing out to Julia quite a ways back when I had a shot of her close up.

It must be an "Anna" thing :)

Anna,
Your daughter is beautiful. And your tribute to her is very touching. My son is now 19 and I wonder the same thing...how did this happen so quickly? Thanks for your tender post.

Happy birthday Sadie! What an appropriate nickname. (My oldest is 21, and it is hard to believe I could have a son so "old"!)

Wow--four months in Turkey! I have never heard of anyone being an exchange student there. I finally got a night's sleep, and am functioning better, but I am still missing our guest--thank goodness for email!
