Taking Flight

In Awe
July 2007

My iTunes: Landed by Ben Folds

Do you remember what you thought of flying as a child? I sure do. I loved it and I still do today. For the last several weeks our family has been traveling around from place to place. The shot below is of my Sam's hand against the window of the plane really captivated me. Sam the adventurer. He was in complete awe the whole flight. He has flown several times before and each time it is the same reaction. He just cant get enough and asks tons and tons of questions...each one leading to another. Never quite satisfied to let it rest. I love the feeling of wonder that comes with new and fascinating experiences. What a wonderful gift it is to watch my children as they see the world! It is like seeing it all over again for the first time.

I hope that you are well there in your part of the world! Have a great week!

I love how just a small portion of skin on his hand is lit in the first picture. These are great pics.

Fly safely (like you have a choice in the matter).

Sam is a lot like me. Whenever I fly, my nose is pressed to the window nearly the whole flight. even if we're over water, I have to watch!

Enjoy your travels and land somwhere wonderful, soon!

Great photo Anna!

As an aviation photographer, I had not thought of a shot like this ... of course, I'm the one sitting the window seat.

love the second one, anna! sam reminds me so very much of sir laughsalot....i think they are kindred spirits, indeed! can't wait for us all to meet up!:)

i've only flown once, before having a child.... so sir laughsalot hasn't had a chance to yet. he's always asking to fly to london, though....to see his aunt, uncle and cousins.

I like the first one of Sam. He's always checking things out and asking questions. One of many things I love about him.

The first one captures Sam so well. I have to say Anna, your boys were definately two of the greatest kids I've ever watched/babysat.

Glad you've been enjoying my photo blog! Now that I'm home, I'm hoping to actually make it a daily thing. I've uploaded my pictures to the computer and have started the massive process of editting...

yes yes, I have been incredibly busy lately, I have all of these pictures to update and no time to do it!

College is right around the bend for me, so that's an added time-consumer!

Always great to hear from you and see your wonderful pictures,

Kyle

Love these photos! I'm 32 and I still get that giddy-childish-feeling right when the plane is taking off!

You've been missed, glad you are returning home and to the blog world! I still remember my oldest son saying "Mom, what an experience" one time when we moved to the US and he looked out the window, the whole plane heard him.
