What I'm Listening To: Daughters by John Mayer

Time goes by so fast...

It seems like yesterday when I captured a pic of Sadie and her dad on her second Halloween. He was decked out as a football player, she was a ladybug with pretty red and black wings and antennas. I remember thinking how small she was as she held his hand and walked away to collect candy....a precious moment that is so vivid in my mind.

I snapped this as we were walking toward the park yesterday in the city. As the mom of a teen, I am always happy when I am witness to pure happiness from her. The times when there are no pretense, no agenda...just laughter and smiles. While the boys lagged behind with me, I caught this sweet moment between a father and daughter. It wasn't until I was editing it later that I was so overwhelmed with how tall and grown up she has gotten as she hung on to her dad's arm. I know he hopes that she will always do that no matter how old she gets.

This week, we will be spending some time just the three of us while the boys spend a few nights with friends. We will be savoring every second with her as we plan some things to do together...

You all take care!

Wow, can that really be my little Sadie girl? How profoundly it recalls the lyrics to "Sunrise, Sunset". What a priceless picture of Sadie and John, we are all so blessed.
Love, Dad

beautiful pic, Anna. I took a similar shot (with my 35 mm) last summer..the backs of my husband and daughter walking along the shoreline in Prince Edward Island. It is one of my favs.

I love the John Mayer song......it always makes me feel nostalgic.

fathers and daughters have very special relationships.

I have memories of moments with my kids like that, Anna, but I have not ever taken a photo of it. That makes me sad.

This is such a bittersweet moment captured on film; the realization that your little girl has grown into a young woman. Whe did this happen? My husband just asked me that question yesterday after gazing at our daughter all ready for church. She certainly isn't six anymore!

Cherish. That's the word that comes to mind when I saw and read this blog. She is cherished and cherish every moment, no matter how fleeting.

That's a picture that conveys so much. I understand exactly what you mean, as i have a teenage daughter myself. She is so close to her dad and it's wonderful to see...but how did they grow up so fast???

There seem to be less of those moments as children enter their teen years, with friends and activities becoming more available. It seems to make time with them more special, and you captured a great moment!

Very nice shot. This one will be a favorite of yours in years to come, I'm sure. I like the presentation too, kinda dreamy.

That is a picture to cherish.
I had a good visit with Judy yesterday. We talked non-stop for two hours. I'm now in Virginia visiting my granddaughter and her parents for two weeks.

Oh, and hi Alice! Thank you for the comment on my blog the other day.

You've raised a fine daughter.

In reading your profile, we have so much in common! Oh my word. Except I don't homeschool. Did, but don't now.

Your recent picture reminded me of one I have of my husband walking in rural China. He's walking with a local on an old dirt road. It's one of my favorites of him, and I even had it painted by a local artist so that I can hang it in my livingroom. :)

Blessings! I love your pictures.

What a touching post that I really related to. I love the momments of pure happiness in my teen, too. I am thankful she still does this with her father and feels comfortable enough too. I know you are, too.

It makes it more special when they don't know you see the happiness, doesn't it?
