Travel Pass Day Three

Winding Staircase
April 2007

What I'm Listening To: The Sweet Escape by Gwen Stefani

Back to Newcastle upon Tyne...

After finally getting pulled out of the train station by my daughter and husband (50 pictures later), we headed to the hotel to drop our bags and regroup before the concert. We ended up staying in downtown Newcastle in the Royal Station Hotel, which was opened in 1858 by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.

The Victorian architecture is beautiful and they have preserved all the features of that period while also restoring the rooms with modern conveniences. It was oozing charm and romance. I saw this top image almost immediately, as I walked the winding staircase. I noticed the light pouring in from the window and grabbed the camera. It really was so pretty. The bottom pic gives you another point of interest there besides the stairs, the beautiful chandelier. And can you see the fancy ceiling? I knew I had to include both of these images for you to see.

Hope you all are enjoying your weekend! :)

That hotel looks absolutely amazing, Anna. I can't imagine the money that all that architectural detailing would cost now.

Nice way to capture this building.

Tremendous! Both of them. I love the stairway going up in the second one, it keeps my eyes in the photo, but I like the extra dreaminess in the top one.
