Unexpected Delight
My iTunes: Good Riddance by Green Day
This bike is a thorn in my side. Why you might ask? Well, everywhere we move...it comes as well. Whether we have room or not. It is my better half's bike and while he does ride it, I get tired of seeing it in our hallway. Nothing is worse than being in a hurry and getting a handlebar in your side at full speed...and it always me that hits it!
In my neverending quest to make the ordinary interesting, I decided to sit indian-style on the floor and start shooting this object of my disdain. I had the house to myself, so I sat and snapped....for quite awhile. And it was strange...I started having a lot of fun. And now, the bike isnt so bad. Actually it is pretty sweet if I do say so myself. This is why I love photography...I hope that you like my take on the bike. I definitely will be back to this subject soon.
Speaking of my better half, his blog is finally up. Do you all mind clicking over there and saying hello? His blog is called THIS JOURNEY and I know he would love a visit from any of my friends who want to drop by...SO THANKS!

Great shots Anna! Is this a case of "if life gives you lemons make lemonade"?
I have hauled a bike around now for 25 years. Got tired of that one sitting around so I sold it and got a new one. Ride it as much as the old one, which isn't much but it looks better! Mine stays in my garden shed so it is not it the hallway!
Is that what your life's come to? hehehe
Many ordinary objects can become interesting when explored with a camera. This is a good exercise to help one to see photographically.
Anna, You are definately inspiring. I am sitting here today bummed that I don't have any jobs for shooting horses-I am an equine photog...and I am bored shooting in my neighborhood...BUT you are inspiring me to just get out and shoot no matter what. While I would rather have a beautiful horse in front of my lens, it doesn't happen often enough! Thanks for being an inspiration.
those are great, anna! i just bought a bike and am excited to start riding with my son....at a 5 year old pace. :) do you have a bike, too?
oh....and i just noticed your new profile pic....me likes! :)
I love these. Perhaps you can frame them and hang them above the bike!
Now that you have shown the bike some love and attention, I predict it will never get in your way again!
Now, I'll go and check out This Journey.
i like the photos!
PS i ride my bikes everyday & still wind up cursing them for stabbing me in the hallway, haha
A handle bar in the ribs can really hurt!! I'm glad you've managed to get something positive out of something that gets in your way!
anna,
would you mind e-mailing me your e-mail address? you can e-mail me through my blog. thanks, girl.

oh, and love that you shot the bike. you inspire me.
I love bicycles, Anna, and as you've so ably illustrated, they're very photogenic.
I've got two in my shed that I need to work on. Maybe I'll take some pictures as I do the work. I love the way your pictures look.
I really like these. I love bicycles anyway, so they're right down my alley. Great work.
hey anna- did you know your fellow whm'er/my bro-in-law is posting his paintings on a blog, too? he just updated it.... www.squarepaints.blogspot.com
