A View from the Gate

What I'm Listening To: Landslide (Acoustic Version) by the Smashing Pumpkins

After another 24 hours, we are both still on the mend here so basically, I am trying to get stuff done when I have the energy for it. I love doing my blog and sharing with all of you...so this is easy for me and cheers me up! So short and to the point it is tonight...

I took this image on a walk the other day around the neighborhood. Again, wandering off into a nook I had never been into, I found this beautiful home. It seems so warm and welcoming. I felt like I had stumbled upon a home from one of Jane Austen's books...maybe Sense and Sensibility or Pride and Prejudice. I wanted to knock on the door and ask for Mr. Darcy. How wonderful these homes must be on the inside with all the period features. For now, I can only imagine. :)

Have a good night...see you tomorrow!

Guess we are all looking for Mr Darcy :) Your use of the gate to frame and enhance the house is well done. I'm glad you're ok and glad you enjoy doing your blog as you give a lot of pleasure with your words and pgotos :)

Anna, you live in a great neighborhood! That is lovely. I'd love to see inside too.

Hey Anna!

I love the shot, I always find it hard to shoot through fences, but you executed it like a pro!

As for California, I had an amazing time. I would recommend Cali to anyone, but if it's a Disney Vacation you are looking for here in the states, go with florida.

The Florida weather is not as nice (too humid for me( but Disneyworld is much better than Disneyland. Disneyland is a condensed version of Disneyworld.

But all in all, Chicago is the best city in the US. San Francisco is a close second!

The composition really draws my eye into the photo. I wonder what it would be like to get beyond the gate. Great work!
I hope that both of you are feeling better!

Anna- Thanks for your comment! I've actually looked at your photos many times and LOVE THEM! I just recently got a blogger account, too. I went to Europe this past summer for 10 days, but we were not able to make it to London, but I am trying to plan a trip back there after I graduate [or just have money!] College drains my bank account-haha! Keep up the great work!

It really does look like the house in Pride and Prejudice and if Mr. Darcy is Colin Firth... then by all means ask if he is at home. That BBC production was my absolute favorite. I have the DVDs.

Gorgeous shot... makes me feel wistful.

These houses are fabulous aren't they? I love the feeling of history.

Hope you are feeling much better now. There are so many bugs going round.

You should do a series on the doors of London. I've seen this done in other cities, why not yours?

I like the composition of this one. It has an elegant feel to it.

Now when you post what you're listening to, is that while taking the picture or during edits and upload?

I love old, well-maintained homes, too. They're fascinating and I always wish I could look inside.

it DOES look like something straight out of a Jane Austen novel..... very inviting!

hope you are continuing to mend so that you can get back to "normal"....

bluemountainmama said...

i don't know why i just put "normal" in quotes....i'm not insinuating that your normal is abnormal.... :)

Gates like that always make me feel locked out, Anna. It's like that song "Signs":

And the sign said anybody caught trespassin' would be shot on sight
So I jumped on the fence and-a yelled at the house,
"Hey! What gives you the right?"

I love Pride and Prejudice, and doors and fences there are the most beautiful I have ever seen. Happy Easter!

I've been busy, but still I have had time to come by and look at your pictures. Let me just say that these last four or five are among your best! I especially like the images from the playground. And the dandelions? What can I say?

Unfortunately, or perhaps not, I have been concentrating on U.S. foreign policy and world politics lately - an issue as complex as it is simple - trying to put some historical context to it. Not easy, but fascinating.

Dude. If Mr. Darcy answers the door and he's not married, make sure you introduce us when I move there! ;) ha!

Just finished watching P&P again...for the umpteenth time (BBC version, of course).
