Green Thumb Needed

Any "educated" guesses?

I am trying to identify this flower. Those who know me know I am absolutely NO green thumb! I can't stress that enough. I am working on a project and need to know what kind of flower this is. I snapped this in London at the start of summer and it is one of my favorite images....and yes John...I took the photo off center! :)

Thanks for all your help!

UPDATE
Thanks Julie for figuring it out! It is the Star of India or Clematis flower.

I think it may be a "star of India" clematis...

But someone else may know better?

OK, that is awesome. I think that you may be right! :) It was supposed to take longer than that!

Thanks!

Anna, I hope someone else can check. A lot of these plants look very similar and I'm no expert!!

Please keep checking and let me know if ya'll find out anything different!

Glad someone could help you. I had no idea myself.

Lovely shot though. I like the off-centered look. I don't even think of it when I'm out shooting. It's like Moi's tilting photos. I like that too, but never think to try it. I guess I'm dye-in-the-wool traditional. It's hard to break out of that thinking.

Yes, it is a clematis. Lovely.

Yes it is a clematis and I think the variety is Jackamani or something similar to that.

Nice shot, off center as it is! :)

I like the flower, off-center and all. I don't have a particularly green thumb either, and I'm glad to learn what it is.

Whew, so glad someone knew what it was. I didn't have a clue. Mums I know, purple thingys..no.
How's your son doing? I hope things are going smoothly.

Anna I am so sorry it has been so long since I visited, I have so much catching up to do. Beautiful whimsical shots of your daughter's dress and so sorry about the broken clavical, ouch.

You are always in my thoughts. I hope to catch up this winter. (((Hugs)))

Hi anna,

My first visit, what a nice blog. Is the flower you needed identified? If you need any other 'flower' help let me know via the email link in my profile . I would be happy to try and help.

Thanks for visiting my site.

I can totally relate. I love taking floral/plant photos--but then people ask "Oh what is that?" and I have no answer...

I am definately no botanist, but I do know that that is one great picture!

I'd be curious to see a size comparison. How small/large is that flower?
