Looking Down

View in the Puddle
February 2007

This morning started out as a very cold Sunday with gray skies. By noon, the sky was as brilliant a blue as I had ever seen it. It was beautiful. We have been going to a church that is a five minute walk from our home. As the five of us made our way there, I nuzzled my chin down in my coat shielding my face from the freezing wind. When I did, I got this wonderful view of the trees reflected in the puddle at my feet. Don't they look pretty? Of course I pulled my camera out of bag and started shooting.

I sure am glad that was paying attention as I looked down because I like this image a lot.

Have a great week everyone!

I'm pretty sure I would never think to take a picture of a puddle..but its a very neat picture! I guess that's why I'm not a photographer. ha!

Tree branches make such lovely patterns and we'd hardly notice by looking up - but in a puddle - they seem better than ever.

That's a very cold looking puddle. No puddles here.... all is frozen until April!

Ooooh this is a nice reflection, well seen and captured.

The changes in the weather in London always used to amaze me. I would go into Sainsbury's to do my shopping and it was pouring with rain black clouds the works and half an hour latere I would walk out and the sky was bright blue and not a cloud in sight LOL.

Puddles can be interesting subjects and if you crouch down or get closer to the ground you sometimes get better reflections than if you are standing over them shooting down. I watched my cats at the puddles and found that if I crouched I got their reflections far better in the puddle than id I was standing up.

I love unexpected reflections, most of the time, unless it gets me taking the picture in it. I was taking a picture of my daughter's room at Christmas. I was outside and her light was off except the Christmas puffy lights we had around the mirror on her chest of drawers. It was just after sundown but not completely dark and superimposed on the lights was the reflection of the sky and the trees behind me. I haven't posted it yet though.

Great photo! A reminder to me not to get so focused on where I'm going that I don't look around, or up, or down. :o)
