Stealing a Moment

Father and Son
February 2007

This one is simple.

I captured this moment between John and Jack on our way to the museum the other day. We were coming up out of the underground near Oxford Circus on the escalators. It was sweet glimpse and was gone as soon as my shutter released. I am so glad that I got it. The way the photo was shot seems like a moment frozen in time between the two of them...and yet the world is still going at a rapid pace all around them. Much like the way things are daily in life. We are always wanting to savor each second with our children in the midst of the chaos of our daily routines. Sometimes that is harder than it seems. But not here...and not today.

As a wife and mom, I could look at this image forever.

I can understand completely how you want to keep looking at this image! It's a beautiful moment and knowing the hustle and bustle in the underground and the fact that this looks like a frozen moment makes it even more special. Lovely!! :o)

An excellent image and special moment rolled into one...

You did so well to capture this on a Tube escalator... (I'll be going up this very one tomorrow morning!).

How did you manage the lighting? It's wonderful.

What a precious memory shot. Great lighting and stop action. You have quite an eye.

I am so glad that you like this shot Mike. I had lots of fun with it in editing. My flash was not on when I took it and I ended up using a sepia tone. I also put a soft glow in the picture that I think really works well with the movements and the tones.

:) It was fun to experiment! Have fun in the city tomorrow! Never a dull moment there.

What a powerful image of fatherhood and the love he has for his child. I think I'd frame that one!

You succeeded in capturing "the decisive moment"!

So could I. It is this very moment that defines why parenthood is such a magical journey.

So beautifully captured.

That is one of the sweetest pictures I have ever seen. Pictures of my hubby w/ my kids MELT me...so I love that one. You really have a gift. =)

Is it possible to capture the relationship between a father and son any better than that? I think not!

Simply the best photo I've ever seen of this topic.

This is one of those images that you want to enlarge, matte and frame and sit and look at at every possible opportunity. Wonderful capture. I have missed so many moments that I have in my mind but will never be able to printand regret missing every day, I am so glad you caught this one. This is the type of shot that makes me glad that I am what I am, a photographer.

Wonderful.

Anna, what a fantastic photo! I love the bond between father and son that you were able to capture so well. The photo looks good in sepia, too.

I think this is one your best (at least of what I've seen), and that is saying an awful lot. It reminds me of when my boys were little - a much simpler time in some respects and in others...

I don't really think there's anything better than the show of love between a parent and child, at any age.

This is beautiful.
