What I'm Listening To: 100 Years by Five for Fighting
This is the post I have been waiting to write for 19 days. John is finally home! As I blog, he is sleeping quietly downstairs in our bed. Hopefully he on his way to a full recovery. We are just thrilled to have him within reach.
This shot I took yesterday of Jack, is a wonderful image of how we all are feeling right now with our family back together....joyful. Do you remember when you were a kid and you could swing for hours on end? I sure do. As I watched him swing (for what seemed like an hour) I just loved the look on his face as he pumped higher and higher and higher. As I took my turn (yeah, I did it), I was savoring the wind and sun on my face because yesterday was beautiful. And my kids seemed to get a kick out of watching me as they had those laughs from deep in their bellies. It doesn't take much to transport me to my happy place these days and this certainly did the trick.
All this being said, I had a lot of fun getting these shots. I was beneath the swing on my back for a few of them which prompted those ineveitable looks from other parents. I actually took this one from my knees and I liked it the best. It was fun for me to do with them.
Anyhow, I am off to take care of John. I hope that you all had a restful Sunday and have a good week!

Super shot Anna! Growing up I lived next to a playground, so this shot brings back lots of memories! Hooray for John's homecoming!
So glad John is back, hope he is feeling better very soon! This is an excellent shot! Really dont think I would have the guts to get this close to a swing!!! :o)
Great capture! Good job with the sepia tone, it fits the image subject nicely!
it's such a nice feeling just to have my husband in the house, even if he's sleeping....there's just comfort in that.
glad john's home and you are finding that comfort, also.
i love swinging, even now as a grown-up. it is the ultimate feeling of being free......
First, I have to say I recognized Jack from the shoes!!! I sent them to him last year... Swinging to me is such a peaceful time. Just closing your eyes and flying somewhere... I really love this picture.
Give John a "hug". I'm so glad he's home and pray for him to feel better quickly.
Love, Mom
I am so glad to hear that John is back safe and sound!
What a fantastic photo! I really like the way you captured the swinging action. The perspective and composition are so good!
Hey Anna, I'm back!!!
I love all of your pictures that you took while I was gone.
I look forward to hearing from you again!
Wonderful shot. When an adult swings it's an immediate childhood sensation. Like the smell of a former school's halls will transport you. You really captured the feel of swingin here and the sepia look is a great touch too.
I finally broke down and started a new photo blog myself called John's Daily Digital Images if you care to go and check it out.
The things we do for pictures. ;)
Any friend of Katherine's is a friend of mine.
That's such an interesting angle for a photo, Anna. I am happy to know that John is back, and that you can nurse him back to health now. I am interested to hear about his experiences in India, and his impressions of the country. Maybe he could write a guest post?
Glad to hear John is back, I hope he gets to feeling better which I am sure he will now that he is home.
This is a great shot. I can just see you on the ground with the other parents watching! What a great story.
Take care!
very goos shot and nicely processed. Glad to hear that John is back and I am sure that he would be fit and fine in no time.
I love this shot :0) I remember so well how much I loved to play on the swings!
I am very gald to hear that your family is back together again adn I am sending you lots of positive thoughts.
These are good pictures and interesting commentary. I like it. Will have to come back.
How wonderful to have your husband back safe and sound. I hope he recovers quickly.
Swinging, what a wonderful memory your photo evokes.
Glad he's home.. Hope he feels better soon, you did such a great job with this picture, the swing of life is also made of ups and downs, and when we are down it is good to know we are in His hands, not under...
I love this shot of freedom and total escape.
So sorry to hear your Hubby returned ill. Your TLC will be the best medicine for him by far.
Thanks so much for My Award. You are a dear person for doing that. Sometime this week I will read all about it and pass it on.

i am a new visitor to ur blog, Anna. and I love all ur pics...Am glad for u and John! it's happy times , again :)...and this pic particularly stuck a chord...
reminded me of RL Stevenson's poems we grew up learning...it's beautiful and i have always wanted to capture sth like this...
For ur perusal, the poem :
The Swing
How do you like to go up in a swing,
Up in the air so blue?
Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing
Ever a child can do!
Up in the air and over the wall,
Till I can see so wide,
River and trees and cattle and all
Over the countryside--
Till I look down on the garden green,
Down on the roof so brown--
Up in the air I go flying again,
Up in the air and down!
Hope u enjoyed it :)
wow, you were brave taking this one LOL.
It just exudes joy and fun and the exhileration of being ALIVE!
Love that song (100 Years). Thanks for visiting my blog!
