Jars of Spices

Nice and Neat
April 2007

I went out to dinner tonight with my friends Jenn and Mita. When we all decided to go to an Indian restaurant, I was Nervous (with a capital N). Why? Because the only Indian food I eat is sitting around Mita's kitchen table! She is a great cook! The image above is her spice cupboard in the kitchen. Well, it is 1 of 3 cupboards she has stocked! Ever since I have seen the inside of it several months ago, I have wanted to take a picture. Again, it's the lines...she is so organized! Maybe I should seek professional help for this affection I have for lines...what do you all think? I didn't have much time to get this shot but I like it.

In the end, the food was wonderful where we went....we had chilli paneer, naan bread and much more that I can't pronounce..... :)

Have a wonderful week!

That's one amazing cupboard your friend has. I do like much of the Indian food, as long as its not too spicey.
Thanks Anna for faithfully checking in on my blog. I have really missed it but llife has certainly gotten in the way. I think things will be better from now on.

I'd love to have that cupboard. Mine is nice and neat, but those jars are awesome. Cool pic.

Cool shot. I like your new "profile pic".

The skewed framing works on this one! LOL!

Our spice cupboard looks more like parts of New Orleans after Katrina!

The lines are great. I like the subdued colors as well. Interesting capture.

Have a great day Anna.

I have only had Indian food twice, but both times it was with someone who knew what to order. Tandoori chicken is great and I love their bread!

Good shot of the spices, Anna. I wonder that they don't go stale before she has a chance to use them all.

haha..being an Indian myself i can understand how "spicy" it can get for palettes not used to it ....love ur shot ....reminds me of my mom's kitchen, tho' she houses them in smaller jars.....:)

I love Indian food - unfortunately I cannot find a decent restaurant where I live after having the real McCoy while I was in Bradford. I just wish I could smell this photo - I bet it's lovely and exotic :)

That's even more than my collection:) I use a lot of spices too. You gave me an idea to photograph them now:)
Thanks for your comment on my 100'th post on Istanbul Daily Photo.

I like the rich, earthy colors in this one.

I once left a jacket at an Indian restaurant. When I retrieved it about a month later, I could never wear that jacket again.

Your "lines" fetish makes me chuckle. I think you can find lines in everything... even polka dots, at an angle can form very pleasing lines. And I understand it because I love them too.

When I went to college I had this vision of what a campus should be... buildings and dorms separated by straight streets in both directions. The first two colleges I visited in Boston and Illinois didn't have them. They were enclosed with small meanderings and winding roads through the middle of campus at best. So my search moved on... to Oklahoma. And there it was, the campus of my dreams... straight streets. Of course the science department was great too.

Little did I know that the layout was because of Oklahoma City itself. Laid out on a grid pattern and divided into NW, NE, SW, and SE quadrants... you cannot get lost. Just find an intersection and you know which direction you have to go instantly!

Of course now, the school has closed off the streets within the campus and made a large mall .... alas, my ideal is no more. ;)

Well, that is a nice photograph. If it was filled with cans of green beans, tomatoes, peas and things we raised it would be or could be our summer harvest all in Mason Jars. Sealed and put under the bed. It brought back a lot of memories.

My Theme Day portrait is of the "Peashooter" and the National Museum of the United States Air Force. Hope you like flying.

And that picture is fabulous. I love pictures of organized shelves and cabinents. Kind of like your lines thing.
