A Family Affair

British Museum
February 2007

My apologies that my post is so late getting up. We have spent the last 9 hours in the city exploring the British Museum and wandering the streets together as a family. It was an awesome school day and a perfect follow up to yesterday! I couldn't resist posting these three images and I hope that you like them. I shot so many pics, you may see a few more from this day before the week is out.

After our snow day last week, we bundled up once again and made our way into Central London. In history we have been studying Egypt, so we were excited to go to the British Museum to see their extensive exhibits of mummies and Egyptian artifacts. The boys were frantic busy bodies while John, Sadie and I could hardly keep up with them. For me it was rewarding because a few times they started explaining facts and stories we had learned together the past couple of weeks. It was great. Jack and I will be going back very soon. Next time, we agreed we will be taking sketch pads and pencils so we can illustrate everything that fancies us while we are there.

The top photo was taken from the top floor of the Museum looking into the court facing the library on site. The lines here still mesmerize me as I look at this image. The bottom two pics are of the kids. Each of these photos were caught when they weren't expecting it. Sadie looks like she could be anywhere else but there...and the boys in their wonder, wouldn't be anywhere else in the world. For the record, I think she had fun too! :)

A million miles away...

Listening closely...

anna, if you dont mind me asking...how do you get so many viewers on your site? It seems like there are so many people that visit your page daily...is there any advice you could give me?

Anna, I would love to go to that museum. I have been fascinated by all things Egyptian since I was Jack and Sam's ages. Sadie looks pensive (or maybe bored) ...LOL.

I am not sure about the name of that company, but I don't think it was the one you mentioned.

bluemountainmama...thanks for that and I will be posting more! :)

corey...all I can say is that I visit a lot of blogs and the ones that I go back to are normally ones that come here. Also, people see my comments elsewhere and stop by for a visit. I wish I had a better answer for you! I am glad that you liked my first pic!

Judy...if you come here again...I will take you. The best part is it is FREE!

Anna

These photos are wonderful. I never got to that museum unfortunately. If I ever get to London again I will get you to give me the guided tour.

I agree about the first shot, it is very appealing.

Great shots Anna. I really like the top one and the way you composed it, but the ones with your kids tell some great stories. You have done a great job of catching some precious moments at the museum.

Loved the pics of the kids. The one of the boys so entranced matches your words perfectly. Sounds like a great day.

Your top photo is very pleasing to the eye. However it doesn't hold a candle to either of the kid pictures.

Your children are very photogenic. I'll bet daughter is a lot like her momma.
The look on your two boys faces is absolutely priceless. I remember expressions of wonderment like that on my two boys when they were younger. That seems to go away a bit as they grow older :)

Dude. I love margarita's. Seriously.

And Sadie is so beautiful! Shoot. I was a DORK when I was her age. :)

The photo of the boys is priceless.

Ok. So now we gotta do hot chocolate and margaritas. Let's do the margaritas first since it will hopefully still be warm when I move to town. ;)

The photo of your daughter is definitely a keeper!

Although I much prefer to live in a small town now (after growing up in New Orleans), the museums and other cultural attractions that large cities have to offer are something I miss. Sometimes.

I LOVE black & white photos. Some of my very favorite pics of my kids are in black & white. I also like sepia...

What a neat museum, I hate that we don't have more places like that around here.

the Anna from over there. =)

Anna, my first visit to your blog! I'm so happy I came. Love your profile. ;)

Also, the photos from the museum are wonderful. Love the first one but the one of the boys viewing the exhibits on the wall is wonderful and your daughter!

Well, guess I should say, "All are lovely!" HAHAHA!

That's a great picture of Sadie, Anna. Really speaks to her personality. Trips like that really make me wish I was home schooled.
