What I'm Listening To: You Don't Have To...by Andrew Balkwill

  • Not here it isn't.

Today was another cold and rainy day. There seems to be a lot of these lately. As I have gone from blog to blog the past week, I see a common thread of people yearning for spring. People are ready for the snow to melt and for flowers to bloom, for the gray skies to go and for the blue ones to take their place. I am wanting this too.....desperately. I am ready to feel the warm sun on my face again.

I snapped this image today. I really am hoping for a macro lens at some point because tend to shoot A LOT of closeups. You probably won't believe me when I tell you that these daisies are well over two weeks old. Can you believe that? They must be holding out for spring too! I wanted to capture these before it was too late and share them with you. The whites, yellows and greens are so fresh and the reflection of the flowers against the window just makes the image so whimsical....very springlike!

I hope that you like this and that it brightens your day wherever you are in the world....

We've had flowers in our garden for the past two weeks also.

Nice image to brighten up another wet and windy English day.

BTW, you're doing well without a macro lens ;)

Those flowers are oh, so lovely. Living in Florida where we have a temperate, sunny climate during the winter. Whenever I've traveled north during winter, I feel the dreariness and the yearning for spring.

Anna, your shot has definitely brightened my day. Although we have no snow in NE England, it's been dull, grey, dark and wet for days on end. I just had to get some flowers on Saturday at the florist's to stave off the winter blues.

Not long now and we change the clocks forward and the days are getting longer and longer.

It's warm here in Florida! I think our mild winter is almost gone for good this season.

    Great shot with beautiful "white".

YES - Lord, please bring on spring!! :)

Ooo, and Anna made a good point about changing our clocks soon!! March 11 baby. When do you change over there?

Hi Anna! Beautiful shot. Daisies, especially the tall shasta kind remind me of the freedom that comes in mid summer. I have many in my garden. Right now, they are dormant under 2 feet of snow (more coming Friday), but only hibernating for a little while longer.

Our days in my part of Canada lately have been sunny and hovering around the freezing point this week. This, combined with the longer days and you can see how it perks everyone up.

today is the last day of February, which always feels like the longest month of the year.... The storm pending on Friday....brings March in like a lion!! Looking forward to greeting the lamb at the end of it. :)

    take care.

How pretty. I'm ready for flowers!

I got my macro lens last August, and while there was a bit of a learning curve, it quickly became my favorite lens. Hope you get one!

Daisies are my favorite. Your photo is lovely.
Wasn't it gracious of our Lord to give us seasons, he just knew that we like a little change now and then.

Anna that picture is fantastic...just what I needed!

You are right about people yearning for Spring. I have a motorcycle bulletin board and you ought to read all the posts about "come on warm weather!".

I didn't realize how ready I was for Spring until I saw your "Daisy" picture. They are beautiful! Love, Mom

Thanks Anna, for the day brightener. the closeup of the daisies is so soft and refreshing. I can't believe they are two weeks old.

What a great photograph -- absolutely beautiful !

I love the softness of this image, Anna. I'll keep my fingers crossed that we both end up with macro lenses at some point. I can almost feel the difference it would make in my photography.

The flowers definitely brightened my day. As I get ready to travel intercity in the middle of an ice storm tomorrow, every little bit of color helps.

Anna I have been getting behind on my comments for which I am sorry :0( . Looking at your posts over the past few days has brought back many memories for me of London, Piccadilly Circus, the tourists, the tunnels linking the underground, the architecture all of which I never took the time to capture on camera and now regret. I hope I get the opportunity to do so again. London is changing so fast though so I am sure I will see a lot of changes when I get back there.

I LOVE the flowers, get that Macro lens, you will do some stunning stuff with I am sure.

    Also hoping for spring soon.

Anna, I love the light you had on these flowers. What did you use?

Springtime is coming. I heard frogs croaking this evening. It warmed into shirtsleeve weather today.

Isn't it great to be alive!

Anna, I'm so proud of you! Look how many comments you're getting after such a short time. I'm not surprised, mind you! You don't need a macro lens - you are doing well without one!

They remind me of fresh white laundry. They wouldn''t mix well with the mud over at my place.

We have jonquils (daffodils), but that really doesn't mean much. They started blooming back in January when the temperature was in the 70's and then the cold hit. But I did see some crocus at one house... so soon. Soon.

Regarding the censorship issue, Anna, I can certainly understand. BTW, I made your picture my desktop wallpaper here at work due to the sunny disposition of the lovely flowers.

Thanks Utenzi...I am glad that you are enjoying your wallpaper! I wish that the smell translated but oh well! :)

i like how on most of your pictures there is one main focus point. everything else is blured or not a big priority but one thing will be really detailed and catches the eye right away.
