Piles of Cans

(Live @ Abbey Road Acoustic)
I poke fun at it in my profile but truth be told I have a serious addiction to Diet Coke and Diet Dr. Pepper. My most recent attempt to rid my body of these vices was just a few weeks ago. I was doing great actually until my husband came back in town and since he has the same issue, I started right back up with it. It really bothers me so I am at wits end with it!
Has anyone kicked this habit? Any ideas? I saw this bin of cans when I was out getting my nephew from school today. I knew exactly what to post when I saw it.
One more thing...
Because I am SURE you ALL are wondering....we lost our match today...it hurts just typing it.
It just wasn't our day. I am off to lick my wounds!
Later friends! See you tomorrow!

The caffeine in them is very bad for you, Anna. You can probably tolerate it now while you are young, but it gets harder on you as you get older.
I prefer hot tea over soft drinks.
All those cans can be recycled for the aluminum.

I was completely off sodas for several years, with only the occasional root beer, and I still drink water with everything.
There was no secret. I just didn't want the caffeine or sugar, and could not stand diet sodas.
When Coke Zero hit the scene, I dipped a toe off the wagon. It tastes more like real Coke than Diet Coke ever imagined. So, if I ever actually want a little caffeine boost, I reach for it.
I still just drink water with meals, though. The carbonation and acidic burn of sodas bothers me now.
Long story short -- there's no soda patch. You just gotta go cold turkey.
Read some articles on the aspartame in those diet drinks - that should help you break the habit! Try Diet-Rite Cola if you must have a soda. No caffeine and no aspartame. I hope the cans in that lovely photo are being recycled!
But did you have fun playing?
Yes, cjc...I had a lot of fun yesterday! :) Also, john, these cans are indeed in a recycle bin at a church nearby.
Thanks for the reality check guys!
I agree - cold turkey is the only way. I have not had a soda in 3 or 4 years! Used to be addicted. Unfortunately, I sometimes still go on iced tea binges. I agree that diet drinks are worse than regular. Every time you reach for one, stop and thank the Lord for your healthy body - then honor Him by not drinking it! Timothy
Hello Anna,
I saw your name on Julie blog, just hopped over to see your photography and I like what I saw here.
Have a great weekend , please come for a visit at my blog with 48 Sky's (collage) from Luxemburg...

Great photo, sorry about your game. Maybe next time!
I was a smoker(I know YUCK) for many years and am now almost 8yrs free, I feel better than ever, and feel sorry for anyone who has an addiction, yes even to pop. Look at your children and they will give you inspiration to quit anything you want to.. You are strong enough if you really want to stop you can. :)
By the way. I like the new photo at the top...:)
Sorry about your game loss Anna but there will be many other triumphs to tell us about.
I guess I'm an ice tea junkie so we all have our addictions, but I have to admit I drink water most of the time.
Wish you well on breaking the habit.
If there is Diet Coke in the house I have to drink it. I drink it until i feel shaky! So the only answer is not to have it in the house!! your other commenters are right; these drinks are cocktails of really nasty chemicals. Pick a day and decide they are OUT of your life! Then take it one day at a time. Good luck!!
Honestly... With all the changes you've gone through in the last year I'm kinda glad to know (as bad as it is) that you're still the same diet coke drinker as always :-D Love ya!
I have tried to give up caffeine when I was nursing. I got migraine headaches that were unbearable! After three days of being curled up in massive pain (all the while with a four day old baby attached to my brea$t 24/7!) I caved after five days. Now I have one cup of coffee a day...if I think about it, I might have diet DrPepper. But no, I haven't been able to "kick this habit!"
BTW, I met my husband while he was stationed at Ft Sill. I grew up about 10 miles from there! I taught there for a few years before we left.
What a small world!
I share your addiction! We don't have diet dr pepper here though! Help!
Just out blog-walking and here you are...talking about giving up DC...I'm on day two, I put the case out in the shed so it't not close by. Ohh...I miss it already ;) good luck!
