What I'm Listening To: Cindy by Tammany Hall NYC (Scrubs Vol. 2, Original Soundtrack)

Another day...another door...or should I say gate?

Welcome to another home in my neighborhood. This was the first sunny day that I was able to snap this home in a while and I am so glad that I did. Look at that amazing sky! Between the red door, blue sky and all the green foliage...it is so crisp and colorful. On a later day I am going to get up close to the branches over the door which I love. Several owners have this growing over the doorways and it really adds depth and interest in the overall curbside appeal of these homes at first glance. And of course I like this gate. All rusty worn with chipped paint...very rustic.

I would love to see the inside of some of these places. Go in and see how people decorate and color their world. It is probably better that I am outside, maybe I would be disappointed. I'd hate to ruin it. Anyhow, it is something I think of often as I walk by these old homes that spark my interest just from the road.

ummm...I could live there. I love red doors, and the transom over it makes it even more elegant.
Maybe I've just missed it, but I'd love to see your house :)

Your photo has such rich contrasting colors! My grandmother and I used to take rides around our city and imagine what the decor was like inside of different homes.

The blue sky is incredible there. And the red door makes it pop out!

Wonderful photo. You are right about the colours and that blue sky is amazing isn't it? Like you, I imagine what the decor in homes looks like too. Just like I used to look at people on the train and wonder where they were going or where they had been. Ain't llife grand?

Anna,

I'm playing catch up again with your images. Things are really busy at work - long days and lots of travelling :(

I really like East Meets West and Penny Wise...

I liked how you framed the house with the gate and house number. Sunshine always makes the day and things we see seem better.
Have a good day Anna.

This home is so rich with character, and between the foreground and background elements, you've captured it so well, Anna.

The best pictures come from us taking the time to drink in the world around us. You continue to prove that every time you trip the shutter.

I love doors, Anna! And I love gates too--especially the older ones that you find around the UK.

Your capture today is just so lovely with all these colours. The red is great!

Wisteria is the first name that came to my mind of the vine over the door. Takes so long to grow but oh, so lovely.

I enjoyed my visit to your blog today.

I stumbled upon your blog today, and LOVE your photos. I too, love to take photos, but mostly of my children.

Anna,
You are reminding me of the walks I used to take in my neighbourhood in Monkstown. So similar. I used to love to walk by the sea and look into the lighted houses by the sea front. Amazing. You captured this so well. Thanks...

You have no idea how much I am obsessing with Scrubs right now.

I can't stop watching that show.

It's so addicting and so well written.

I think those branches are wisteria. Gorgeous! I love walking down neighborhoods and thinking about who lives inside and how their home is inside too. But you are right, we would probably be disappointed.
I came by your blog through Anna's.I really like the refreshing feel your blog gives. I love your photography. I will be back for sure!

anna,
you have a remarkable talent for framing your subject with shapes - i don't think this can be taught - it's a gift and an instinct, and you have it

I love the home shots. You could almost do a whole photo study on entry ways with all the neat ones in London.

It reminds me of the garden entry ways to private gardens in Charleston SC. Those always looked so mysterious when we did our walking tour. Kind of like your #10.

Great work, enjoy it as always.

I'm struck by how many of the doors have such different glass and window inserts. And such brightly colored doors. Very nice.

I think, whoever has decided on a red door, would have a good taste to decorate the inside also. Maybe you would not be dissapointed?
