Dancing Shoes

Recital Ready
April 2008

My iTunes: Tryin' To Throw Your Arms Around the World
by U2

I am preparing for a shoot this weekend. I think these days I am constantly checking and rechecking EVERYTHING before a shoot. I am sure one day I will just grab my bag knowing all my stuff is there. Maybe.

For now I am just glad to walk out WITH my camera!

I am shooting a dance recital this weekend. I will be doing portraits and casuals of all the girls before, during and after the performance. It should be fun. My daughter is one of the dancers so I am looking forward to capturing her and all her friends. I shot the image above for this job. I will print these and then put all my information on the back so people know how to contact me for sessions. It will also have the viewing galley and password for them on the back to see all the images about 5 days later.

I liked the finished product here. Her shoes look worn which I love and I think the wood floor is the perfect background.

Ana, the shoes are very nicely composed in the picture.
Good luck and have loads of fun at the dance/shoot this weekend :)

Of course I love your pictures. But today, I'm focused on your words. Going to work and photography are one in the same for you. I'm kind of envious here. I'm so enjoying photography these days I'm not-so-secretly wishing I could do it as at least additional income if not full time. I'm a teacher and I do love my job. But still I ponder this.

Have a great photo shoot this weekend!

This photo tells a story, even without your eloquent words fleshing it out.

This IS a delicious photo! As a dancer (a thousand years ago) I LOVE it! Those shoes tell a story, and I'd just love to sit down and hear it...something so inviting about their worn-ness.

The floor does make the perfect backdrop. And I'm sure, your shoot will bring much delight to you and your little dancing muses :).

Anna, if any of your former Project Yellow/Green players are interested, I have a FUN PHOTO CHALLENGE going on here! (a weekly thing, not daily :) ).

I really like the heightened contrast in this image. I wish Sadie good luck with her recital -- I remember those days (I was a ballerina for 10 years).

My shot for the day is up as well = )

Guess what -- I've been asked to shoot a wedding in July! It'd be a favor for a childhood friend who is doing a low-budget wedding, but I'm still excited! Would you mind giving me a few tips sometime between now and then? I'd hate
to do a mediocre job on someone's wedding photos, because you keep them forever!
