Girlfriends

Flip Flops and Denim
April 2008

My iTunes: Goodnight and Go by Imogen Heap

I shot this at session with Sadie and a couple of her friends. Whether you are my age, older or younger, there really is nothing like good girlfriends in your life. One of these girls is moving away soon. It is hard to make transitions as a teenager but we will send her along with lots of love and prayers and know God has already gone before her to prepare her way! This was my favorite capture of the day. Something about it just feels very intimate and personal.

Take care everyone and I hope you are having a good weekend!

I really like the coloring and composition of this shot!

I'll be putting today's image up later today after tech rehearsal and wen I need a sanity break from writing 3 more papers...

beautiful shot!!!! kinda like those vintage-esque cards :)
since the nature of my parent's jobs involved a change of city every 3 years, i know what it is like making that transition that you mention here .........moving away is never easy for either side but thankfully technology today has made staying in touch much easier than it used to be say 10-15 yrs back.......

I like this. There is a casual intimacy in their poses. These girls are comfortable with each other. You sure do pack a lot of message in one little photo.

Every age has its own version of this photo - look at it again and tell me if you can't imagine it a la 1920s, and then 1940s, etc...change of skirt lengths, change of shoe styles. It's a timeless photo in that way.

Gorgeous photo! They'll treasure it and the others you shot for years!

it's timeless, anna.... that could have been me and my neighborhood friends way back in the day. :)

It is very retro, and gives a feeling of mystery.

I noticed you list Imogen Heap's "Goodnight and Go" again. You must really dig that tune. "Hide and Seek" probably is my favorite track by her, and I have a couple of her CD's. Yes, I said CD's.

Now, that's retro.

I really like the color tones in this image. It's funny how a shot without faces can capture mood, but you did it.

I like the de-saturated color you used on this one. Nice touch!

My thoughts are close to duplicating those of June, who commented earlier. This could have been taken of my friends and myself during our teen years, or my daughter and her friends during theirs. Certain things just don't change much, like flip-flops and friendships.

Great capture!

I love this too...there is nothing like friends and may we never get too old to appreciate each other. I have met so many wonderful people since we moved 10 months ago. I hope a few will become my special "girl friends". I do think my daughter in law is one of my best friends. I love her a lot.

I love the way this looks .
Nothing better than friendships when you're young!

To me this shows that these 3 girls are friends - in the way they are dressed in similar shorts and flip-flops. Have you noticed that young girlfriends DO tend to dress alike?
