My iTunes: Beautiful Day by U2

Finally, the first 587 images from our trip have been sorted. When I am done with this, I think I may need to speak with someone about how many pictures I take! Please tell me that some of you take as many as I do. Regardless, here we go...

My better half and I have a wedding anniversary coming up soon. More on that a bit later. Unfortunately we know we are going to be apart for it....about 5000 miles apart to be exact. A couple of weeks ago we given a last minute opportunity to go away and spend some time together. No kids, no worries....what a treat this was for us! Logistically, traveling away from England is perfect because you have the world at your fingertips, and often you can do it pretty cheap. My ever-so-thoughtful husband, remembering that we are to be apart on our special day, surprised me with our destination and we were packing shortly after.

Leaving our home at 3:30 am certainly didn't seem like a holiday but that is when you get the good deals on seats. We were exhausted from no sleep and we were a bit teary at leaving the kids....for about 2 seconds! :) I snapped these two images as we started our journey with eachother. We have always loved traveling together to far off places, meeting new people and absorbing different cultures. It is quite rejuvenating for us as a couple to wander in places we have never been, where something new and exciting is always right around the corner. I can't think of a better way to spend time than to explore our planet from one end to the other. The top image I was able to snap as we walked to the plane and boarded the steps. I had one try to get this and I am thrilled it came out. I have the same fascination with planes as I do with trains. To put it simply...they're just so cool!

I was going to change the bottom image to sepia but I couldn't do it...the blues and oranges are amazing in this shot! I thought I would give you all a bit of a teaser and see if you might want to guess our destination. I can give you a hint. It comes from the image below. Those aren't just any mountains, they are the Swiss Alps. Stunning and breathtaking! I couldn't take my eyes away from them...maybe one day I will see them from below!

I am so excited that we finally get to see some vacation pictures! Of course both are amazing. I will never tell you how many I took in Italy! You are right, the blue and orange (go Syracuse!) are amazing in the second photo.

Hey Anna,

Really cool shot of the engine, and I love the British Library sign! Great stuff.

Let's see, if I draw a straight line from London to the Swiss Alps, you end up somewhere in Italy, maybe headed for Venice. But then someone fired up a defective cell phone, fried the plane's navigation system, and you ended up spending a week bicycling in Albania. Am I close?

And have a good time in Italy :)

Cool plane images...reminds me of "Carmi's" stuff ;)

That's so great that you and your husband got to take a trip like this! "Lucky".

I know what you mean about taking "lots" of images. I usually take at least 100 on a portrait shoot. When I photographed my company's Trade Show, I took over 600 images. That's not counting the ones I delete on camera. So, I can relate to you.

Wonderful images! Sounds like a great get away.

I took 209 pictures tonight so I don't think you are too far out of line.

My first thought when u said in earlier post "south of Brit. Lib" was
France/Italy ......are we getting any more clues ????:)
and the colors in the last pic are awesome....am glad u did not turn it into sepia.....the orange is beautiful against the blues and the whites...:)

Your trip sounds magnificent and I hope it wasn't too expensive!

Yes. I mean, I kind of got a little carried away with my attitude on my post, but it's something I've always noticed but have never said much about.

I'm so glad that you and a few others actually see it my way as well. That girls should live their own lives, and "the one" will find them. They don't have to throw themselves at ruthless men.

Great pictures for today! Can't wait for tomorrows!

Beautiful images, Anna! I'm really excited to find out where you ended up. P & I love travelling together too. Sometimes, however much as parents we love our kids, it's good to remember we are also a couple!

I wonder if you went to Venice...or Rome?? Hurry up and tell me!!

love the engine shot...

remember seeing the alps like that coming back from Tanzania a couple of years ago - they are beautiful, leaving feelings a little like the first time you fly over the Rockies....

Anna, did you go to Italy? I hope so! I took at least 500 pics there...LOL. You are not alone in that.

I am glad you didn't change the color in that last one!

I love them both...they're very much the kind of images I like to capture when I'm between here and there. Your Alps image reminds me of some of the pictures I snapped of the Rockies as I flew over in May. It never, ever gets old.

Nice shots of the engine and the Swiss Alps.

On our five day trip to Louisian and back from Florida this past December, I took about 700 photos.

That's the beauty of digital, we had Lovely Wife's laptop with us, so I would download every night and start each day with empty memory cards and batteries freshly charged.

On days where I get up in the morning and wander around town, I'll take 300-400 before noon when I usually come home to eat and because it's gotten too hot.

This was the nicest surprise after buying my first digital slr, I can "burn film" like I always wanted to, but could never afford to with film.

Anna, Only 587 shots? haha well you found also some-one (me) who's making as much as you, even more shots from where ever we go. (last vacation in Costa Rica I took over a 3000 shots)But You are not 'every day' on holiday, or in a plane, or even IN Italy....

Enjoy your stay,

JoAnn from Holland

The view from your airplane seat is amazing, Anna. I've never had such a clear view of mountains from above.
