My iTunes: Miracle Drug by U2

This is so hard choosing images to share. The loveliest thing about Italy was the beautiful architecture. You all know how I love to look up and so these had to be some of the first shots I was going to show. Arent these buildings great? The colors, the lines, the textures...it was all so interesting that I could hardly contain myself. And their stories...what would they be? The forecast while we were away said rain for the duration of our stay. As you can see in the top picture, we never saw a drop. It was clear and beautiful the whole time. As we wandered, I would take a picture and my husband would sometimes gently remind me that I had already taken it before. However, it didn't matter to me though because the images were completely different. I was struck by something different everytime I looked around.

Hope everyone is having a good week!

Anna, This is SO typical Italian! The colours, the narrow streets, the architecture. You might have 'eyes' to short, to make all the shots you want, but believe me... better make too much, later you can always use them! I love Italy and have lived there for 6 years. Ignore the waether, ENJOY your stay.

No wonder Venetian blinds are called so . Love old buildings....the older, the better :)

Your top photo looks like an oil painting. Wonderful!

The colors and the architecture were like that in every city we went to in Italy. It is a feast for the eyes everywhere you look!!

I love details of building facades like these. I especially like the color combination of building and sky in the first photo.

As a former architecture major, I must say that you are showing these buildings in the way they deserve to be shown - unlike so many textbooks. How are students supposed to be inspired without photos like yours?

Beautiful as always!

Thanks for showing the Italian architecture... I'd love to travel there and shoot-up-a-storm, but I know I probably never will... Looks like endless possiblities...

I've lurked while having my tea this morning, and I am finally leaving a comment...aren't you so proud? Seriously, I love the architecture. I have a pastel drawing I did of "slums" (as the text called them) of a place in Italy...beautiful buildings for slums. Maybe one day I can share it with you. How blessed to see the color and architecture in person.Love ya, girl!

I like the second one best. But the color of the building in the first one is really pretty!

My favorite is the first one. It looks like a painting not a photograph.

Rita and I are off to Rome this Fall. I hope that I can develop your discipline for seeing the way that the details are what compose a culture. You can see trees in the forest... That's either a gift, or more probably, the result of a lot of looking (on top of a basic gift).

Thanks for sharing
Ted

I really like the "narrow alleys" pic.

Lovely Wife gave up years ago of reminding me that she thought I'd taken a certain photograph before. I got in the habit of describing, in mind-numbing, excruciating detail, my reasoning behind photographing something again. I made sure to throw in lots of f-stop and shutter speed and depth of field descriptions.

Eventually her eyes would glaze over in a near comatose state, and also eventually she stopped telling me she thought I had taken that photo before.
