Project Black. Take Six.

Signage
July 2008

My iTunes:  Still Dave Matthews...see previous entry...

So I finally got it up!  Here goes.....

I can't do a Project without at least one sign!   My father-in-law took all his grandkids to lunch today and I snapped this!  Mary Mac's Tea Room is an Atlanta favorite if you want homestyle southern food.  On my handwritten order?  Chicken and dumplings, green beans and fried green tomatoes.  YUM!  Anyhow...it was great!

I am kind of Mr. Linky'ed out right now so I am not putting the links up.  Tomorrow I am home all afternoon and night so I am going to catch up on all my commenting...if you haven't heard from me yet...I WILL BE THERE...I promise!  Also, I am going to be doing Project Black for a few more days at least for those who have been asking...

Have a good week everyone!

Is this the famous Mary Mac dressed in black from the children's jumpr rope rhyme? I hope not because I want some of those chicken and dumplings, and preferably without tacks!

I love the way you framed the sign.

Approaching black - another urban ground shot.

Did not experience problems uploading pictures.

Just lucky, I guess.

Thanks for Project Black!

So you finally managed to put it up right! I love it!I love your sign, and the angle of that shot is great!

Oh I'm so glad it's going to continue a little while longer!

Yay. Your perseverance prevailed. Glad you were able to get your shot posted after all. Love the angle here and how the background lines work with it. Well done.

DMB, just another thing we have in common! ;)

Great shot. I've heard of Mary Macs and now I'm hungry (my boy has me up at 4am; he's wide awake).

Gosh that is an old lettering style that was very popular in its day. Nice to see it is back on signs again.

Good one! Where in Atlanta is this? I'd like to go there next time I'm there.

My number six is up now too!
See you tomorrow!

Another great shot, Anna.

I'm sorry to get ahead of you, but I was so sleepy last night, I posted my pics for Take 6 and went to bed. Little did I know I'd still be waiting...

I'd be excited for another five or six days. I have some pics sorta ready to go.

Very nice! Like others have said... great angle, terrific lines, and the font is wonderful.

You photograph signs like no one else does. Anna, I miss the doors you photographed in England, did you ever find nice ones in the US? Oh, and I posted my grandparents wedding today... in real b&w!

Wondering what "tacks" Quilly's talkin' about... I was worryin' about chokin' on a silver button myself! It's a delightful sign! And I LOVE a tea room! But I thought tea rooms served finger sandwiches and scones! I'm IN for the fried green tomatoes though!!! YUM!

Still not caught - but it isn't a race, huh? Good black - this sign - but the food sounds even better!
Laters, Klaus!

Great sign. It's simple, but has charm.

Hilarious. I just saw Dave in concert a few weeks ago for the third time, at Hershey Park stadium (about 40 minutes from home). Gotta love Dave.

Love this picture! I love signs. Maybe because by nature they are "art".

Project Black is fun! It gave me an excuse to get out and take some pics of my son and his new mohawk as well. ;-)

I hope to get some other inspiring 'black' photos up as well!

I love this photo! The sign is great by itself, but looks amazing paired with the lines! I'm enjoying Project Black very much.

Ahhhh! Mary Mac's--your photo took me back to when I lived in Atlanta a thousand years ago...it IS an institution, isn't it?

I've missed a few days in Project Black, but I think I made up for it today with my series (that took me FOREVER to load because TypePad was VERY slow...sounds like some of what you were battling with Blogger :/).

If you've never been to downtown Chattanooga, you'll see there is a whole lot of "black" to be discovered :).

I love southern home cooking! and I'm actually quite good at it.

that sign is great but then again you can make anything look like art :)

Nifty sign and I like the angle you've shot it at (at which you have shot it?)... I had problems with blogger late last night, though only briefly. Thanks so much again for creating these projects. They are fun and have really given me a new way of playing with my camera and of looking around me.

Hey! That looks familiar! On my order? I forget! But I do remember the two glasses of sweet tea! Oh, and the pot licker was, well, interesting. And I don't think I will ever forget the lady who came around to rub our backs. Scary... I took a photo of a sign inside - with my cell phone! Perhaps if I ever post again I'll post it grainy and blurred as it is.

What an inviting sign, and such a pretty photo. I love the diagonal line. The food sounds wonderful, too.

I'm glad to hear the project will go on for a while. I've really enjoyed this one.
