What I'm Listening To: Naive, The Kooks
You read right....I did it...FINALLY! Please check the link below to find out exactly what I am writing about here.
This was my checklist to get this picture....
Sunny day...check.
Camera in hand...check (duh!).
Gate open to No. 10....check.
No kids...triple check.
and of course....
The guts to walk into their garden without an invitation. Today? CHECK!
Here is my finished product. I love this doorway. The blue door. The white frame. The steps. The light. The trees. All of it.
So inviting.
I am so glad that I got this today....
Hope you all like it too!

The vivid blue really draws the attention straight to the door!
I love it!
Thanks Kyle....I have waited several months for this shot! Sounds crazy really as I am writing it but its true!
Glad that you liked it!
wow...now i know why you wanted this shot so much. i love all these bright colors on doors and such in your neighborhood. do you think that trend started b/c the weather tends to be so gloomy? i was thinking about you as i made my gourmet version of fish 'n chips tonight....frozen fish sticks and frozen fries! :) can't wait to eat the real stuff one of these days!
What a bright, fun door!
Who wouldn't like that?! I love electric blue and it is interesting that the shadow falls on the left and makes the door darker in that area. That adds interest. You did well, Anna!!
Woohoo, great stuff, I knew you would eventually get it. All good things come to those who wait, or so they say LOL.
I did a few doors while I was in London but on a very old 1 Mp Kodak point and shoot when they first came out. Maybe I should look for them. Quite often they have lovely flower boxes next to them too.
Lori
That is gorgeous.
Anna, I knew you'd take that leap eventually and get a picture of this door! It's a beautiful, bright color. Love, Mom
Congrats for your patience and persistance. It paid off. Great shot of the blue door and the surrounding area.
Love the blue... makes all the doors around here look "blah". I did have a friend in Mississippi who had a purple door... or rather a plum purple color.
Gee, for a moment there I thought John had finally painted your front door Tarheel Blue . . . not necessarily a bad thing.
Love, Dad
I could do a whole room of pictures of doors and enterences from the great shots you get...
The gate picture is going to look great in the matting and frame that I picked... I'll send you a picture of that picture... :-)
Congratulations! Persistance always pays off. The great thing is that it was definately worth the wait. Great color, great perspective, it just comes together.
Glad you had the guts to walk in uninvited... And that you had the patience to wait for this perfect shot!
Such vibrant colours! Wonderful.
Glad you achieved what you were wanting as I sure enjoy looking at this photo. Reminds me of "the Doors of Dublin!"

There it is! You got it :)
You Mrs Anna are persistent.
It truly is a beautiful color. You should make some sort of compilation of front door photos from your neighborhood. I could stare at those for hours.
Love this!
Great blue and looks so inviting!
I can relate to seeing a picture over and over in your head and finally getting to shoot it.
congrats anna on this momentous occasion
Hooray! You did it! Oh, and it was SO worth it - this door is beautiful. I love that vivid and vibrant blue.
I'm so happy you finally got the shot you wanted.

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful (as usual). Your photos are such a delight!
Playing catch up here Anna, I've been busy setting up webhosting and installing Pixelpost...
Two great images - I really do like Inside Job :)
I was going to ask if it was Number 10 Downing Street...but I did a google search and no, it's not.
I love the blue!
I love it, too. I've loved vividly colored front doors ever since a girl in my nursery class, Wendy, had a big red door on her house. The only way I knew it was her house was from the red door, and I forgot where she lived after we went to different kindergarten classes and her parents repainted the front door.
To this day, I think of her every time I see a red door. Time for a new pic from my camera, methinks.
Thanks for the inspiration, Anna!
:)
The blue caught my eye. Very nice door and very nice photo.
Blue's my favourite colour and i love doorways with steps - so this ticks all the boxes for me :)
