Wow...I can't believe he did it! Jack learned to tie his shoes today and boy is he proud!
Jack is the young fashionista of our family...just like his Dad, he loves bags, shoes and jackets. And even the odd tie (we still aren't sure where he got that from)! So cool. All of us love our slip on VAN shoes which has probably hindered the shoe tying process in our family. Sorry kids, you can start blaming mom and dad now. So as John and I wondered when he was actually going to tie his shoes, we eventually came up with the perfect bribe...a new pair. Jack was psyched! So we made a big deal about it...we took him out, told him how great and cool these shoes were and well, it worked...hook, line and sinker! :)
This image is the fruits of our labor. I snapped this pic as he finished the first shoe before moving onto the next. Way to go Jack, we are so proud of you! BTW, I told him he made the cut for my pic of the day and he is eagerly awaiting your comments!
Everyone have a great Friday!

WOW! Jack I am so proud of you...you look like a old pro in the picture. Love, Grandma
I still remember the day I first tied my shoes. It really is an accomplishemnt.
So cool Jack. That's probably the neatest bow I've ever seen on a shoe. Mine look pretty lousy, never can get the loops to match.
Hope you enjoy those new shoes man!
Love, Papaw
still can't tie mine!
How wonderful for you, Jack! Congratulations. I only taught one out of four kids. Verne taught the other three.
And your new shows are very sweet!
I still don't know how to..and that's a 25 yr old speaking......Jack, u sure are a fast learner!!! :)
way to go, ja-ack, way to go...woo woo!!!!! can you help sir laughsalot learn to tie his now that you're an old pro? :)
Way to go Jack! Did your mommy tell you to make the bunny ears and that it works just great?
Congratulations Jack! I am glad Mom was there to capture that moment.
Now it is on to easier things like engineering, nuclear physics and stuff like that.
Jack chose some super cool shoes. We suffer from the same problem in our family - no one wears shoes that tie!
Wow! That is a great moment. I can remember the first bow I ever tied. The children in my first grade class were equally as proud when they could tie their own shoes or help someone else.
I remember my first bows too, Jack! Good for you for learning how to do it.
Congratulations Jack! What a great picture and those are some really good shoes too! As I get older and getting down to the shoes to tie them gets harder.... those velcro tabbed shoes look better and better.
(in a Cuban accent, modeled after a guy where I work)
Jack! The best of the best from England! You are the man!
(For some reason, Anna, after my initial reaction of hooray for the milestone, I couldn't help thinking of a stock photo. Not a specific one I have seen before, but one I might see if searching a collection under the "milestone" or "footwear" category)
Wow, that is a really cool pair of green Vans. Wear them proudly. that's a great shot of a perfectly tied shoe. Congratulations Jack.
You know, I can't remember mastering my shoelaces (it was SO long ago), but I do remember helping my cousin's little (then) boy learn how to tie his... Thanks for the memories...
Cool shot....Way to go Jack!
Congrats, Jack! I hadn't thought about it in years, but I actually do remember sitting at the foot of my parents' bed with my Dad when I learned to tie my shoes. Enjoy the moment!
Also, great photo. Mesmerizing in its simplicity
Way to go Jack! You should see if you can get another pair of shoes out of this accomplishment.
Now those are some cool shoes. Congratulations Jack!
I actually remember the day I learned to tie my shoe laces and wish I had a picture of that moment. Well done Jack :)
I remeber our children learning to tie shoes... and tie ties.. they had to for school!!!
A happy moment, lovely picture :)
Cool shoes. That's a big deal, learning to tie your own shoes. I remember being at my paternal grandparent's home when I finally was able to do it after some days of frustration.
