Back to Basics

Why do we forget the basics? Wait, I guess I will just speak for myself. Since I have been far from home in this life we have felt called into, somedays I have felt spiritually dried up, like I have lost my way. I have questioned the Lord, thinking that He must have made some sort of mistake with me. The ways of the flesh are so detrimental to our relationship with Christ. The fact of the matter is this...the Lord doesn't make mistakes. This is a photo of my bible from this morning. In my pursuit to choose joy daily, I started the Beth Moore online bible study "Believing God". For anyone who has not been in one of her studies, I highly recommend it. It was wonderful to have her lead me through Gods word. She has a true love for women and bringing them to scripture. She gave her viewers what she named the Five Statement Pledge of Faith. These are five things to remember and believe as you go throughout your day. I thought I would share these with you because each one touched me today.

1. God is who He says He is.
2. God can do whatever He says He can do.
3. I am who God says I am.
4. I can do all things through Christ.
5. Gods word is alive and active in me.

Do any of these speak to you? I would love to hear what you think.

Wow, good stuff! The one that hit me the most is:
I am who God says I am.
The whole "Daughter of the King" reality is so powerful. I had never really heard it or thought about it until I was living in Ireland in 2005. That really hits home for me. Thanks for sharing!! I'll definitely be checking Beth Moore out this week. :)
Much love to you - and thank you for my very first "comment" on my new site! :)

Anna, I participated (as much as possible) in the Beth Moore Bible Study at the church this fall, and I found her fascinating.I didn't know she had an on-line site - and I will check it out now. Thanks for sharing that.

Anna, I did this study in the fall and it is fabulous. I'm a Beth Moore devotee and have done several of her studies. I'm going to one of her conferences in May. She does have a way to bring the Bible to life like no other. You will definitely grow closer to God during this study. It really puts things in perspective. God bless you today!!

"I can do all things through Christ". That's the one that speaks to me today. Right now just getting through each day is so important to me and to know that Christ is there to help is very powerful. You know how I love your thoughts written down on paper. Love, Mom

Hi Anna,
This was a great post. I had gotten off track recently. Focused on what I had lost in my life, and what I want but don't have. In that place I had lost sight of who God is, lost my contentness with where I am, and paid no attention to what God has done for me.

The one of these that really speaks to me is "I am who God says I am"... Even as I went for a walk after reading that, I could not see who God said I was... after thinking about this and talking to God about it all day long... I am LOVED, that's who God says I am...

I really enjoy your posts, and come to see what you are taking pictures of each day... thanks for this ministry.

I hope God blesses you and your family (there and here).

What an incredible talent God has given you Anna. He is giving you insite in the spiritual side of life (obviously He has your heart...it is wonderful to see a sister in Christ concerned with keeping a close relationship with our Savior)and has also given you a gift with photography.
I realy like this shot of your Bible. You inspire me to try to make one of my own.
