Finding my Direction

If this weather vane was my life tonight...it would be spinning out of control like there was a storm coming.

Tomorrow is my first day of homeschooling all three of our children. Yes, all three at once. As I write I am knee deep in books. For the record, I shouldn't be taking the time to do this now, I should be doing my planning. But everyone needs a break and this is mine. What I am realizing as tomorrow gets closer is that there's a real part of me that is relying on my planning and my control for everything to come together....basically it is ALL on MY shoulders. In reality I just need God to take it all. Every subject, every book, every word that comes out of my mouth. I am begging for Him to take it, make it His and make it good.

I think I just found my direction...towards Him.

I snapped this image earlier while walking in our neighborhood. It sits atop the oldest building of the Harrow School. That brilliant blue sky is exactly what I saw...no enhancing for those of you who may be wondering. No doubt that I will be posting a few more weather vane pictures. They are everywhere here, decorating the rooftops. Again it makes everything so quaint. You don't see them in the States much so I definitely notice them as I explore. When I saw this one I knew exactly what I would be writing in this post.

I am already feeling better than I was just a few short sentences ago. Since I know I do better in small steps, I will be taking this day by day. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow as we start on this family adventure. Thanks!

The Harrow School provides a multitude of picture ops, doesn't it?
Glad you found fresh Grace. My offer still stands to teach the kids in selected subjects including:

- Sports: Choosing your Premiership football team

- Self-Defense: How to go after someone like a spider-monkey

- Culinary Skills: Stout, Amber, or Ale?

- Current Events: Beckham for President?

- Film and Culture: Could Dwight really run The Office?

just let me know

Anna, I will be happy to pray for you, but I have no doubt you will do very well as their teacher. I saw a TV program last night on the Dilley Septuplets. Their mom home-schooled them for years, and they loved it. I was amazed at her level of organization (can you imagine schooling 6 kids 12 years old?) but that is what it takes; that, and discipline. You'll do fine, and you will have His help.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6

Anna I know that you acknowledge God in all your ways. Cast your cares upon Him who is more than able to carry them. Continue to do that and you needn't worry about your ability to homeschool your children. You will do fine!

Anna- we know your exact feelings. Great picture. We will be thinking of you as you go through this.

Tell John if he wants to help he should try to help with things he's good at. Some examples would be-
1. His verticle leap
2. His ability to run long distance.
3. His knowledge in always picking the best players for his fantasy teams.
4. His ability to use normal human functions as a deadly weapon.

And many more.

We will definately be praying for you.

Anna, Dad and I will be praying for you, John and the children as you take this awesome step with them. This journey you take together will be with them for the rest of their lives. Love, Mom

Gorgeous shot, as always :)

yep, will definitely be praying! Let's see...it's 10pm here...so it's 5am there...perfect timing for me to pray right before I go to bed...soon it will be time for things to start up for you. Like Kenju (aka Judy??) said, I have no doubt you will do VERY well as a teacher!

And you should totally take John up on his offer...he's a wise, wise man...

Anna,
Homeschooling *is* a daily endeavor, and a daily (sometimes minutely) of laying it down.

Anna,
I hope that your first day is going well (went well - I guess you're quite a few hours ahead of me!)
Give yourself permission to ease into it, the routine will come and it will be wonderful!
